ABBEVILLE, ALA. – Great Southern Wood Preserving, Incorporated, has earned Green Approved Product certification for its YellaWood® brand products using Osmose® MicroPro® technologies as well as its products using the Osmose® alkaline copper quaternary preservative technologies from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center under the National Green Building Standard™ program.
As the industry leader,
YellaWood® brand products have long been recognized by consumers, professional
builders, architects and specifiers throughout the South and Midwest for
quality and dependability. Easily
identifiable by a distinctive yellow tag, YellaWood® brand products treated
with MicroPro® preservatives can be used in above ground, ground contact, fresh
water immersion, and critical structure end uses. (Consult the end tag and
literature for the approved use.) By using these approved products, architects, specifiers,
homebuilders, and contractors are now eligible to receive points toward a
building being certified under the National Green Building Standard.
The National Green Building
Standard program is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved
consensus-based standard that defines the criteria for certifying a building
(single-family or multi-family; new construction, addition, or renovation) as “Green.”
Osmose® MicroPro® preservative system used in YellaWood® brand products has a
track record of environmental success.
In 2007, it received certification from Scientific Certification Systems
(SCS) as an Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP). SCS is a third-party certification, services-and-standards
development company that has been recognized
as the leader in green building product certification since 1990. This marked the first time a wood preservative system has received this rigorous certification.
