4/14/2008

COLUMBUS, TEXAS – As of December 27, 2007, the Great Southern Wood plant in Columbus, Texas, was recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as accident free for two years. Due to this outstanding accomplishment, Great Southern Wood honored their employees with a luncheon on Tuesday, April 8.

Jimmy Rane, the founder and CEO of Great Southern Wood, was in attendance at the luncheon. “I am honored to have our plant in Texas recognized for this outstanding safety achievement,” says Rane. “We believe in teamwork, dedication and safety as the basis for being the best. The service of the employees at the Texas plant has been outstanding, and they deserve recognition for their hard work and commitment to safety.”

Others present at the appreciation luncheon with all Texas plant employees were corporate employees: Wanda Moody, Director of Human Resources; Mark Callender, COO of Great Southern; Kevin Savoy, Vice President; and James Riley, Marketing Director.

“Our number one concern at Great Southern is safety,” says Moody. “Our employees are trained with safety in mind. Therefore, it’s great to share this celebration with the Texas plant employees who have remained accident free for over two years now.”

At the luncheon, all employees were awarded with commemorative items, and Justin Wright, General Manager for Texas plant, placed plaques commemorating this achievement in the office and plant.

Wright said, “Our employees are very dedicated, and many of them have been here since the plant opened seven years ago. We wanted to recognize each and every employee, and thank them for their commitment to safety and to the company.”

Rane stated, “Because Great Southern Wood is a family-owned business, our employees are much more than just a number, they’re more like family. That’s why we take great pride in seeing our employees and their families succeed in life.”

Since opening its Columbus location in 2001, Great Southern Wood has enjoyed the support of the community. “We are proud to belong to an area like Columbus,” said Rane. “We have a strong commitment to the community here in Columbus and look forward to our future here.”
