Rodriguez Joins Great Southern Wood

ABBEVILLE, ALA.- Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., the number two producer of pressure treated pine in the nation, is pleased to announce the addition of John Rodriguez of Conroe, Texas as Assistant General Manager at the company’s Columbus, Texas facility.

A graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a degree in general business, Rodriguez brings 33 years of building industry leadership with him, most recently with Bison Building Materials. “John provides Great Southern with a wealth of experience in growing sales, inventory control and new product management,” said Jimmy Rane, President and CEO of Great Southern Wood. “I have no doubt he will be an asset to our team in Columbus.”

During his time as branch manager for Louisiana Pacific Corporation, Rodriguez grew sales by 11 times, turning his branch into the number one distribution center in growth.

“John is extremely well known and well thought of by builders and contractors throughout Houston and the surrounding area. His success at Louisiana Pacific and Bison Building Materials speaks for itself,” said Great Southern’s Chief Operating Officer Greg Rane.

Great Southern Wood was founded in 1971 in the small town of Abbeville, Alabama and over the past 30 plus years has added six treating plants in strategic locations across the south. In addition to its plant in Abbeville, Great Southern operates facilities in Mobile and Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Conyers and Statesboro, Georgia; Sumter County, Florida and Columbus, Texas with plans to open a new facility in Jesup, Georgia in the fall of 2005.

The company credits its growth to a highly successful marketing campaign which has consumers across the south looking for the famous “yella tag.”
